35 year old actor Daniel Gillies has revealed how his character Elijah is in love with Elena (Nina Dobrev) in the hit The CW vampire series, The Vampire Diaries. Daniel admitted that everybody in The Vampire Diaries seems to fall for Elena at some point or another and that he hoped that Elijah would manage to express his feelings for her before it is too late.
Gillies explained, "I know it's a little obvious in the world of Vampire Diaries, where everyone falls in love with Elena, but I agree that Elijah sees something beautiful in her. I would love for him to express that to her before he goes. I feel like Elijah would be most drawn to her because she's living a better life than people who've lived for centuries longer.

He added, "I think that's the sort of thing he's attracted to. Even it was just a moment, I'd love to see them share something - but I think it should be more." Daniel Gillies character Elijah recently made his return to The Vampire Diaries, after being resurrected by Damon (Ian Somerhalder). The Vampire Diaries airs on The CW on Thursdays at 8/7c.

One of the most tragic things that would result from Elijah’s permanent demise on The Vampire Diaries would be the loss of insightful interviews by Daniel Gillies. It’s clear that he thinks deeply about his character’s motivations, as well as the internal life of all the show’s other inhabitants. Season 3, Episode 12, “The Ties That Bind” marked his shocking return, and while we’re always glad to see him, certain spoilers simultaneously make us worry for the emo-est Original.

Elijah has come face to face with Klaus (Joseph Morgan), and if killing his brother’s hybrid is any indication, he’s not happy with relations. “He doesn't enjoy what the family has become,” Daniel tells The Insider. “They're a distortion of their former selves. They've become monstrous. And he seems to be looking for purity or attempting to uphold some sort of code, which seems strange to me given that everyone in this family is so corrupt.” All this disappointment is going to set in motion an important storyline, which Daniel is keeping tight-lipped about.

While Daniel (thankfully!) isn’t ready to leave TVD quite yet, he thinks Elijah must have a role in Klaus’ downfall — and that may mean an expiration date for the floppy-haired Original. “I'd really like him to be an instrument in the destruction of Klaus,” says Gillies. “I don't see that happening without considerable damage or the complete loss of his own life.”

One thing Daniel wants Elijah to cross off his bucket list is confessing his feelings to Elena — whom Daniel thinks he’s fallen hard for. “I agree that Elijah sees something beautiful in her. I would love for him to express that to her before he goes.” Okay, we’re getting emotional here! But there are some Salvatore-shaped obstacles that would probably get in the way of Elena reciprocating Elijah’s love. “Both Elijah and Daniel think Stefan is still the biggest romantic threat for Elena's heart,” agrees Gillies.

First of all, Gillies, bonus points for referring to yourself in the third person. Second of all, don’t let Delena fans hear you say that!

"Waking up next to this dude. Are you kidding? Perfect start of a day," Ian Somerhalder said about his beautiful orange and yellow striped cat. The actor is a known animal lover, and is often endorsing some of the most worthwhile charities and causes around.

Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev might be spending another weekend apart. The rumored couple hasn't spent much down time together, their schedules seemingly getting in the way each and every time that Friday rolls around.
Whether Nina is heading to New York City for a party or Ian is going to Los Angeles for business, the two have not had a weekend in Atlanta in a while. While they do get to see each other almost every day (filming The Vampire Diaries), fans always like to see them spending their spare time together, going on dates or just hanging out low-key. This weekend, Ian was in Los Angeles after wrapping for the week, and now he's in the mountains... it's unclear whether or not Nina is with him.

"Delayed—LA airport crazy. Like hanging out in an LA bar. Agents, lawyers, writers, and creatives everywhere. Small world Hollywood," Ian tweeted on Friday. He later added that he was in the mountains, eating pizza. Fans have confidence that Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are still together despite their hectic schedules... and maybe, just maybe, they are together in the mountains right now.

Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev will more than likely be spending Valentine's Day together (minimally on set), but will Ian be spoiling his girlfriend with flowers and chocolates? Probably not given what he thinks of the "holiday."
"Happy Valentines day everyone! True: It's a conspiracy of florists & chocolatiers but guess it's a day to stop a sec—appreciate love around & abound," Ian tweeted on Tuesday morning. In many ways, Ian is absolutely right. The prices for flowers and chocolates skyrocket on this romantic day, and really who wants to pay upwards of $50 for roses that will die in less than a week?

While Ian Somerhalder might not want to give in to the societal rules of Valentine's Day, there are plenty of other ways he could spoil his girlfriend. He could get her a balloon, a teddy bear, or even just a super-romantic card. Making it special for her in his own way is more than enough to put a smile on her face, don't you think?

Ian Somerhalder Wants to Get "Dirty" With Fans

The Vampire Diaries Mystery of Elijah's Accent Solved!

Flashback episode! This time what prompts the time traveling is Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) sudden realization that the murders in Mystic Falls are mimicking a similar string of deaths from 1912. Welcome to the game, Salvatore. Where have you been? Damon remembers his beautiful mentor in mayhem, Sage (Cassidy Freeman), who taught him to be oh-so bad. Sherriff tells him to back off, but Damon thinks she’s pursuing the wrong person. Does this mean Meredith (Torrey DeVitto) is off the hook?
Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Matt (Zach Roerig) aren’t convinced Alaric’s (Matt Davis) lady is innocent, so they engage in a little unlawful entry to prove she’s a murderer. Meanwhile, Rebekah (Claire Holt) is on a hunt of her own. In a quest that probably has something to do with that second white ash tree, she goes looking for one of Mystic Falls’ old landmarks.
Both Damon and Elena have emotional breakthroughs this episode — though probably not with each other. Elena’s is personal, while Damon confesses something to Stefan (Paul Wesley).

The present-day murders in Mystic Falls remind Damon (Ian Somerhalder) of a similar crime spree a century earlier. In flashbacks to 1912, Damon recalls a beautiful vampire, Sage (guest star Cassidy Freeman), who showed him a whole new way to exist. Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) warns Damon not to get involved in her investigation, but Damon is convinced she’s going after the wrong suspect. Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Matt (Zach Roerig) resort to breaking and entering in their search for evidence to prove Dr. Fell (guest star Torrey Devitto) is a murderer. For reasons known only to her, Rebekah (guest star Claire Holt), becomes interested in locating one of the town’s oldest landmarks. Finally, Elena comes to a new understanding of the path her life has taken, and Damon makes an emotional confession to Stefan (Paul Wesley).
